Job Duties
• You will work with the external fabrication partner to translate the written records for all digital and electronic exhibits into a final product; this will include:
o revising and finalizing narratives
o working with the fabricator to develop storyboards and timelines
o working with the Exhibits Project Manager and the fabricator to develop prototyping schedules
o working with the internal evaluator to test prototypes with the public and record feedback for the fabricator
o Providing feedback on artistic and interactive decisions made by the fabricator during the development process
• Research and acquire images/media for specified exhibits; this includes:
o Researching, identifying stock video and image vendors that meet budget and content needs.
o Identifying and acquiring stock footage that fits thematically into each exhibit where media is needed
o Work with the internal exhibit development team to review and revise all footage during various planned feedback periods.
o Fulfill acquisition requirements and document licensing/permissions procedures
• Collaborate with the Exhibit Development staff on content and artistic development of exhibit video montages.
• Collaborate with Exhibit Development staff and Marketing staff to find and interview members of the public that would like to share stories that meet the requirements of specific exhibit narrative needs.
• Work with outside creative media sub-contractor and coordinate communication, video shoot schedule, editing and production of exhibit videos.
• Shoot and edit video interviews with members of the public as needed.
• Collaborate with the Exhibit Development team to identify and procure artifacts/environmental objects for the exhibit.

Experience and Education
Required
• Bachelors Degree

Mercer Slough Environmental Program Site Supervisor

PROGRAM VISION AND INNOVATION: Contributing to Pacific Science Center and Mercer Slough EEC missions by:
• Maintaining an awareness of participant and community needs and adapting new and existing program to better suit those needs.
• Assisting other Program Supervisors and Mercer Slough Program Manager in creating innovating, inquiry-based programs & curriculum that inspire enthusiasm and passion for the natural world.
PROGRAM OPERATIONS AND PLANNING: Ensures the safe and successful Mercer Slough programs by:
• Scheduling staff for programs, communicating with staff about the schedule and ensuring that the schedule is running efficiently.
• Monitoring and coordinating logistics for program scheduling to ensure each program does not conflict with other programs.
• Assisting teachers with operation of programs and any difficulties that arise as necessary.
• Following up on any program or maintenance needs reported by teachers and providing teaching staff recognition support.
• Ensuring smooth daily operations of programs including supervising program staff in daily operations and responding to teacher/staffing substituting emergencies.
• Ensuring quality control of parent/participant communication materials including registration process, confirmation or pre-visit materials and daily camp letters.
• Responsible for communication with parents, school groups and Pacific Science Center Registration.
• Overseeing daily site management, in partnership with the Program Supervisors; including public inquiries, site/vehicle maintenance, staff scheduling and program calendars.
• Develop seasonal staffing models, logistical systems and new program components to ensure efficient and effective program support responsive to programmatic changes and growth.
• Summer and Break Camp implementation support to Mercer Slough PreK-8 Supervisor including leading all participant/parent verbal and written communication as well as pre and post logistics planning, educational supplies ordering and organization, canoeing and instruction support as needed.
• Leading coordination of phone and front office logistics with support from MSEEC Administrative Staff.

• Serving as Pacific Science Center Facilities and Rental Monitor for Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center Community Room.
EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT: Ensures success of program staff by:
• Supervise all teaching staff unless otherwise designated by Mercer Slough Manager.
• Establish staff performance expectations through training, observation, advising and mentoring, staff evaluations, disciplinary actions and HR procedures.
• Work with other Program Supervisors to implement and execute training for staff.
• Supervise hiring process, including recruitment, phones screens, interviews, and hiring paperwork, selection and assignment process for MSEEC Teaching Staff.
• Monitor and maintain communications with staff and volunteers.
FINANCIAL INTEGRITY: Ensure the efficient financial operation of the Mercer Slough program by:
• Maintaining accurate attendance records.
• Keeping track of all expenditures and turning in receipts, invoices and transfers in a timely manner.

• Assisting manager in developing innovative ways to increase revenues and reduce expenses through the development of new programs, grants, sponsorships and partnerships.

PROGRAM VISION AND INNOVATION: Contributing to Pacific Science Center and Mercer Slough EEC missions by:
• Maintaining an awareness of participant and community needs and adapting new and existing program to better suit those needs.
• Assisting other Program Supervisors and Mercer Slough Program Manager in creating innovating, inquiry-based programs & curriculum that inspire enthusiasm and passion for the natural world.
PROGRAM OPERATIONS AND PLANNING: Ensures the safe and successful Mercer Slough programs by:
• Scheduling staff for programs, communicating with staff about the schedule and ensuring that the schedule is running efficiently.
• Monitoring and coordinating logistics for program scheduling to ensure each program does not conflict with other programs.
• Assisting teachers with operation of programs and any difficulties that arise as necessary.
• Following up on any program or maintenance needs reported by teachers and providing teaching staff recognition support.
• Ensuring smooth daily operations of programs including supervising program staff in daily operations and responding to teacher/staffing substituting emergencies.
• Ensuring quality control of parent/participant communication materials including registration process, confirmation or pre-visit materials and daily camp letters.
• Responsible for communication with parents, school groups and Pacific Science Center Registration.
• Overseeing daily site management, in partnership with the Program Supervisors; including public inquiries, site/vehicle maintenance, staff scheduling and program calendars.
• Develop seasonal staffing models, logistical systems and new program components to ensure efficient and effective program support responsive to programmatic changes and growth.
• Summer and Break Camp implementation support to Mercer Slough PreK-8 Supervisor including leading all participant/parent verbal and written communication as well as pre and post logistics planning, educational supplies ordering and organization, canoeing and instruction support as needed.
• Leading coordination of phone and front office logistics with support from MSEEC Administrative Staff.
• Leading and maintaining office equipment and supplies.
• Serving as Mercer Slough’s Petty Cash Officer and Key/Code Officer.
• Serving as Pacific Science Center Facilities and Rental Monitor for Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center Community Room.
EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT: Ensures success of program staff by:
• Supervise all teaching staff unless otherwise designated by Mercer Slough Manager.
• Establish staff performance expectations through training, observation, advising and mentoring, staff evaluations, disciplinary actions and HR procedures.
• Work with other Program Supervisors to implement and execute training for staff.
• Supervise hiring process, including recruitment, phones screens, interviews, and hiring paperwork, selection and assignment process for MSEEC Teaching Staff.
• Monitor and maintain communications with staff and volunteers.
FINANCIAL INTEGRITY: Ensure the efficient financial operation of the Mercer Slough program by:
• Maintaining accurate attendance records.
• Keeping track of all expenditures and turning in receipts, invoices and transfers in a timely manner.
• Assisting the manager in the development of yearly budgets.
• Assisting manager in developing innovative ways to increase revenues and reduce expenses through the development of new programs, grants, sponsorships and partnerships.
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE EDUCATION: Contributes to an engaging learning experience by:

• Sharing excitement, wonder and enthusiasm for the program and the natural world with all participants.

Other Job Considerations:
The Mercer Slough program is located off-site from the main Pacific Science Center facility. This creates a unique situation. It is important that the Supervisor be able to maintain visibility at both sites and keep awareness high of each to the other whenever possible. There is a lot of autonomy in this position but the Program Site Supervisor is still accountable to the Mercer Slough Manager for the policies of Pacific Science Center, the integrity of the Mercer Slough and the deadlines and regulations of the City of Bellevue.
Weekends and nights are required at certain times of the year. During the summer and opening fall seasons, your time may be especially busy and may require additional working hours. All candidates must be able to work outside in inclement weather and in a variety of conditions including mosquitoes and muddy trails. Working on weekends and nights will be necessary during some parts of the year.
Education and Experience:

• B.A. or B.S. in biology, natural sciences, ecology, environmental education, environmental science, or related field
