Laser Artist (Part Time, Regular)

We are looking for a Laser Artist to aid in the day-to-day running of all Pacific Science Center Laser Theater programs and events through customer service, presenting live laser performances, and assisting the Laser Theater Supervisor. The Laser Dome at Pacific Science Center has matinee shows during the day as well as evening shows Wednesday through Thursday. Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours on mornings, evenings and weekends and have a passion for music!

Position Start Date: ASAP
Job Status: Part Time, Non Exempt
Compensation: $10.54/hour

Job Duties:
• Customer Service: Provide for a pleasurable Laser Show going experience for PSC guests by performing high quality laser shows, conducting live energetic audience interactions, and responding to guests needs.
• Operational Support: Contribute to overall operational functions by coordinating laser theater programming with all PSC Staff, performing with laser theater lighting/sound/laser equipment to accommodate specific special event and regular program needs.
• Administrative Support: Attend to the weekly administrative tasks of the Laser Theater operations by acting as PSC's Secondary Laser Safety Officer in the absence of the Laser Theater Supervisor, performing routine safety checks and maintaining necessary FDA/CDRH regulatory paper work including laser logs, conducting audience surveys, and other various detail oriented tasks.
• Marketing & Promotional Support: Contribute to the public's exposure of PSC’s Laser Theater programming by assisting with offsite promotional events, disseminating laser related information outside of PSC, attending meetings as needed, generating ideas to enhance the visitor experience.
• Technical Support: Ensure the smooth running of Laser Theater programs by reporting to the Laser Theater Supervisor on all technical issues related to all laser/lighting/and sound equipment, performing optics cleaning, alignment, basic electronic repairs and other various detail oriented tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Required
• Must be at least 18 years of age due to safety concerns
• Artistic / live performance background
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electronic devices
• Basic technical knowledge of audio-visual equipment
• Excellent and engaging public speaking skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours
Desired
• 21 years of age or older
• Previous supervisory experience
